I think I'm in the minority but I really enjoyed this. The ending certainly feels forced, I'd love to see the original cut before the theater shoot out was removed.

I keep seeing people say that they've seen this film before and done better. Sure, it's a Gangster picture that treads heavily on the genre tropes, but we don't get a ton of them, so I'm perfectly fine watching something that's well made, well acted and shot gorgeously that retreads familiar territory than sit through the other crap that's out there.

Quite entertaining. Sean Penn's makeup looked like something out of Dick Tracy, though.

I liked it more than I expected. I'm always a little prejudiced against crime and gangster films because they tend to make me anxious and uneasy. This one was fun and not too dark for me.

A good movie that's worth a re-watch. Taking alot of what works and polishing it off makes what I found to be an enjoyable gangster movie for 2013. It gave me one of those "walking out of the theater like a bad ass" moments. image

A good ode to old gangster films but most of the relationships between each character were never fully developed and, for example, the chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone's characters got lost and was almost boring to watch. I think the trailers make everyone think it'll be more about those two within the dealings of this mob boss but it really isn't.

Nicely designed, stylishly directed and very well played. Unfortunately it's far too long for it's material. The filmmakers seem to be struggling to decide whether they are making a serious mob film or a ridiculous shoot-em-up. Additionally, they get started on too many relations. Inevitably, some of them had too fail in engaging the audience. The love story starring Gosling and Stone is proof of this.

Enjoyed it but all throughout it, all i could think was how similar it was to The Untouchables

The guy at the beginning between two cars was homage to William bendix?

A mostly-cringey THE UNTOUCHABLES part two; I still can't be sure if they were making a parody or trying to be serious.

I know that this movie is a lot like the untochables, I never saw the untochables, looks like I'll have to see that movie.
Gangsar squad has a fantastic cast, good actors, the story is based on real events, which impresses me greatly.
Violence, humor this movie has a bit of everything.

This film was alright. Despite it being based on true events, it was a little too drawn out and the climax was expected, as was the ending. But throughout it contained specific details and characteristics that added to it's "gangster" element, and was visually pleasing (Ryan Gosling, mainly) but it lacked a strong plot line.

Don't watch it for the script or the acting. But it's fast paced and it's fun to see. I loved the "let's kick some ass" attitude :) 7/10
