Most absurd movie I've seen in a long, long time.

David Fincher has become really very good at laying out mystery thrillers in between Zodiac and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Gone Girl benefits from that growing expertise. I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't seen it or read the book, but it's about a woman's disappearance and possible murder for which her husband is implicated. Did he do it, and if so what exactly did he do? Or is he innocent and if so, whodunit? The film expertly opens up several possibilities, leads you down blind alleys, doubles back, keeping your interest through it's admittedly longish 2½ hours thanks to a good number of twists. Underrated Ben Affleck and justly high-rated Rosamund Pike are excellent at presenting the dysfunctional couple, and I'm a big fan of Tremé's Kim Dickens as the detective, but sadly, Neil Patrick Harris' casting seems a misstep to me. He's a good actor, and appropriate for the role he plays, but it's somehow too close to How I Met Your Mother's Barney not to get some laughs. At one point I thought THIS was how HIMYM really ended. Distracting. But a minor thing. In Gone Girl, Fincher not only creates a successful and twisted thriller, but if you're not a fan of the filthy, decaying look he usually gives his films, something a lot cleaner and prettier.

Story line was brilliant throughout until the very end! I was very disappointed at this as in my opinion the end should be the best part but unfortunately it seems as though the writer had nowhere else to go with the story line so they just filled it in and i must say it had a very negative effect. i was disappointed as the story had a lot of potential.

Interesting how the same director who made Zodiac (the true story of an inquisitive cartoonist attempting to unmask the Zodiac Killer) manages to make a film in which an inquisitive detective spoiler just gives up at some point.

I was completely on the edge of my seat watching this one. Extremely well done! My only issue is how we didn't get to see the investigation into the death of Neil Patrick Harris' character. Surely the police would have been able to piece together how Amy must have killed him because there would have virtually been no way for her to get a hold of a box cutter if she was tied up. Other than a couple plot holes, I absolutely loved it!

Holy Shit. Holy Shit. Holy Shit. Fincher, you magnificent bastard! This was my first Fincher film I've seen at the theater and boy was in one hell of an experience.

"Holy Shit", is the phrase I muttered to myself several times as I drove home from the theater. One might ask, "Why was Evan saying Holy Shit his entire drive home?" Well I will tell you why BECAUSE THIS MOVIE IS FUCKING AMAZING!

This movie is right up my alley. The whole murder mystery, who done it thing is my thing. Every week I watch Dateline NBC, which is murder mystery. And this is the best episode of Dateline NBC that I've ever seen. David Fincher is a sensational director and his style is very distinct. His amazing style is all over this film. As the credits rolled I just sat there with my mouth wide open, trying to process the masterpiece that I just witnessed. I also might add how great this film looks.

The performances in this film were nothing short of outstanding. Ben Beastfleck and Rosamund Pike were unconscious. My word, they were both amazing. To date these two give the best male and female performances I have seen in 2014. I seriously don't understand how people think Affleck is a bad actor. This masterpiece of a film also made me no longer hate Tyler Perry. To my surprise he was actually really great in his role. Carrie Coon, who played Ben Beastfleck's twin sister, was so damn good. I can't believe this was her first movie performance. If I had to pick a weak link out of the performances, it would have to be Neil Patrick Harris. While I love him as an actor, I kind of felt he was miscast. But I was still ok with him. The rest of the cast with smaller roles is also great.

I didn't think The Grand Budapest Hotel was going to be topped as my #1 film of the year, but as of right now Gone Girl has taken the throne. This also might just be my favorite David Fincher film. Sorry Zodiac ;).

I Skipped the book, didn't knew nothing about this, no trailers, no information about this movie, that s the better way of seeing this movie.

Love, love this movie, it is on my top 5 favourites movies of Fincher.

Rosamund Pike is going to be nominated, great performance,
Ben Affleck's best performance till today, the supporting cast was excellent, the only movie with Tyler Perry worthy of watching.

The passing of the movie was excellent for a two and a half hours length.

This is probably the most nervewrecking movie I have seen in 2014. It's a sadly beautiful depiction of manipulation and psychological violence. It perfectly punches the media and the people in the face with their own blindness. And I honestly don't think people understand that behind the story, there's a message (intended or not, I've spent over two hours with that flashing in my face) for them.

The movie in itself is not perfect. Too many moments were obvious for my liking. It's like they forgot where they left off and where they were going, and filled in those minutes with something dramatic.

The acting is superb, and nothing less. Pike and Affleck both played their roles to perfection, and the rest of the cast fill in what's missing. I was sickened by Amy, and I felt the frustration Nick had to experience.

The soundtrack had a creepy Sci-fi feeling to it at some points, and it just messed with my head like it's supposed to do. The picture was almost too beautiful, which made it even more disturbing, because when everything went down south, it still looked good. Close to perfection, very close.
