The film is two hours and forty minutes long, yet it took me six hours to push through it. What a frustratingly uninteresting film. Kurosawa has made so many films I consider spectacular masterpieces, but this gave me absolutely nothing.
Christ this was a snore. I'd bet my last pound one could-if they were a fairly quick reader-go through the entire novel on which this film was based faster than it'd take to get through this film. To think it was heavily truncated, too. Gasp.

I'd never expected to see the day where Setsuko Hara could rival Bela Lugosi's Dracula posture.acoltismypassport

Didn't think it would ever end. Talk about over-dramatized, this is it. It's to bad because the acting is excellent.Dieguito
Not bad, but I wouldn't compare it with others Kurosawa's movies.
