Although not the greatest movie, I found it to be better than the total trash I heard that it was. I don't understand all the hate. I found it amusing.
I have postponed watching this movie for several years because of all the negative reactions to it. Now, I finally sat down to see it and found myself surprisingly entertained throughout. I liked the basic idea of a angry, selfish alcoholic superhero and I liked the way Will Smith portrayed him and many of the ideas in the screenplay except
the whole 3000 years old / made in pairs / grows weak when we are close bullshit
. But even the really bad parts never become boring and I salute the movie for being really entertaining.
Totally underrated. It's not the film that the trailer said it would be but I had avoided this for a long time because people said it was so bad. It's not true. This film makes loads of interesting choices throughout and was very enjoyable.
I don't get why there is so much bashing of this movie. I will admit I was confused at times and wondering where they were going but that was because it was ORIGINAL and not the same baloney we are used to being recycled. I am sure there are parts that could have been better but I enjoyed it.
Tonal problems, never quite understanding if it was a gritty realistic look at superheroes, a black comedy or a dramatic tragedy. Again, it's the likeability if the actors that wins you over, though there is some fine superhero action and effects in there. Will Smith is the world's only(?) superhero, but he's been on a bender for decades, and is more destructive than helpful until he comes in contact with the family of a public relations man played by Jason Bateman and his wife played by Charleze Theron. Superman meets Bad Santa meets Arrested Development. I'm even interested in the sequel that's in pre-production.
A perfect example of a good superhero concept blown to smithereens and back again. An alcoholic superhero who suffers from real-life problems like regular people? The concept is brilliant, and it's completely wasted. Even the plot holes are so big that they literally swallow the entire movie and when they pass by the film is in more of a mess then when it started.
I wasn't too interested in watching this but finally did because I love Charlize Theron. The movie was okay, but not great. Some scenes were boring, some were interesting... all in all, I don't think I'll watch it again, but it's not a dislike either.

Not nearly as bad as people would make it out but you see the better movie that could have been. The big twist totally gets in the way of a good film.babblebuth

I really liked this film, thought it had a really good, unusual plot. Worth a watch.magnusfb
Didn't hate it, but the potential in this story sooooo exceeds the film the way it's made. Almost a little angry about that ^^IreneAdler
