How to Train Your Dragon 2 has the same grand sense of adventure, so much the plot problems aren't readily apparently, though they may creep on you in the afterglow. The cardboard villain, for example, just how does he take control of the Alpha Dragon? But while the family subplot is unsurprising and follows formula, it seems to follow the first film's sense of stakes, coming with a real cost and is touchingly acted. That it IS formulaic means you should already know what the third film (set to release in 2019) will be about. For all that, it's fun to see all those characters back for a second adventure, and the world of dragons is expanded and given new wrinkles, which is what a fantasy film should do with its sequels.Jace Lightner

One of the most anticipated animated sequels for me.The first is awesome, really good, this one is on the same level, a little bit dark and I like that.
The third one is coming in 2017, not need to rush it, make the third as good as this twos.

Loved it! Really great, the story wasn't quite as touching as the first but overall this was a really good movie for adults and kids alike. The animation was awesome and the pacing of the movie really surprised me, it was good! All the voice actors were wonderful also.aniforprez
though the cast is just as adorable as the first, with better animations, great voice acting and a decent story, the plot didnt feel very fluid and the ham-handed family values and a generic villain brought it down. it's an excellent kid's movie but didn't pull me as much as the first one. it's still pretty brutal at times though.7/10

First film has a great story; a boy becomes a man, standing against social pressure, desire for acceptance, hiccup's eager to prove himself. What we have in this movie is just heartwarming flashbacks. For the sake of first movie this movie can be tolerable but more dragons and wandering around the almost same subjects is not the answer. Hiccup proved his father that dragons may be loyal in first movie and in the secont he showed that to a corny villain character which makes no sense what is next proving this to obama?MrDoog
Nice movie that adults and kids can enjoy together.Not nearly as charming or funny as the first, but still pretty decent.

As an adult, I appreciated it, saying what it does about family - perhaps some of us need a reminder about that occasionally. Our 6 year old loved it. Plenty of action, excitement and humour. Highly recommended.theZeffo

In the beginning I wasn't so sure if I was gonna like it as much as the first part... but again the story was nice, the dragons were so cute and colorful... some great effects. Quite entertaining, thumbs up!PopcornCult

Loved it! It was great twist that they jumped in time so the characters could be developed. Can't wait to see the next one, and of corse the series. Great visuals, story and a well created universe with dragons to explore.Showing items 1 – 15 of 23
