The food bank scene truly harrowed me.

Very good film that will anger you, and maybe make your mind a little bit more political/activist oriented.

The latest Palme D'Or winner is engaging and makes its point well, but almost too well. I couldn't shake the feeling that it's purely a "message film" and for me, the message (while I support it fully) would have been more effective if it was fleshed out with...other stuff. Every scene, almost every line, is devoted to delivering its point that the system is flawed and ruining lives. I wonder if this is better suited to documentary? Great performances though, especially from Hayley Squires, and I appreciate the naturalism.

Not a critics review but without IMDb boards (prefer here anyway) i found the bean scene deeply emotional. I saw the actor playing Daniel Blake, Dave Johns in the Manchester comedy club, he organised a charity night and was the funniest and last to perform that evening at the club. As for benefits, i am presently trying to claim and have also worked for the Government in benefits, very accurate depiction. They are not 'rude' but do not 'help'.

A very powerful film that does a fine job of highlighting iniquities suffered by many in need due to the unnecessary red tape resulting from bloated bureaucracy. The performances and dialogue seemed to be so grounded in realism that the film is akin to a documentary.
