I think we can all agree that the idea was good but they storyline that they came up with was weak.
This one was a little too subtle for me.
In Time has such a wonderful concept, I can't believe I haven't seen it put to film before: "Time Is Money," literally!
Now if that pun wasn't awful enough for you, then you simply must watch this film, which is chock-full of wry wordplay about time and anything else that might come up! "Time Zones, Time Keepers, Minute Men, 99 Minute Stores, clean your clock, I've got the time," and many more. I lost it and burst out laughing when they got to the, "He must have thought it was a drive through," scene!
All silliness aside, though, the writing is quite delicious in how it weaves all these puns into the characters' lines, and actually does have a nice commentary going on about our own society. The power elite have all the time in the world (zing!) and can live forever, while the proletariat grind away at dead-end jobs to earn a living wage (oh, I kill me).
This is a film built around a simple idea, a good script, and a couple hokey special effects. It's not going to blow your mind and become the next sci-fi cult-classic, but it is definitely more than the sum of its parts, and something you might end up recommending to others. If nothing else, it's a fun time; a little bit of old-school, budget movie making.
to see which of your friends have seen this movie!
