The film starts strong, given off last crusade vibes with a younger Indy battling the Nazis.
But as with most of the movie, the 1st act does go on for a bit too long. The CGI on Indy's eyes was also a bit too much and made him look a bit robotic.
Certain scenes were well done, with the parade scene being the stand out moment, really felt like they captured, with meticulous detail, the look and feel on the moon landing parade.
This movie could easily have been 90 mins instead of the 150 minutes that it turned out to be.
Helena was a bit all over the place as a character. I get that they wanted a strong and independent woman but they made her character a bit of a mess who at times just got in the way. At times she definitely takes away from the fun the Indiana Jones ethos. And whilst Phoebe Waller-Bridge is absolutely brilliant in many things, she was completely miscast for the role, and is cringeworthy at times.
Mads Mikkelsen of course gives us another strong acting performance, just a shame that his character spends to much time chasing or running off with the antikythera mechanism. Would have been much better to have seen him less, so that he could appear more mysterious and menacing.
If the film was a hour shorter and had a different female lead, would have easily added another star to my review.
The ending really needed a lot of work done to it. Maybe if Spielberg had of stepped in we might have actually of gotten the ending that we actually wanted. 1 year 2 months ago -

Better than Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and that's about it.
The de-aging of Ford at first is impressive but very quickly goes into the uncanny valley with most of the CGI being rather poor for a movie this big.
The story is paper-thin and all over the place and the movie is clearly banking on nostalgia.
Mads Mikkelsen and Phoebe Waller-bridge do the best they can with their characters but can't hide that the writing is often cringy and character development is either non-existent or suddenly goes 100%.
Also: for an Indiana Jones movie this one is short on humor and surprisingly violent. 1 year 3 months ago -

Lots of things familiar here:
Running, climbing, guns, rails/trains, snakes or similar, creepy crawlies, history, relics, WWII enemies, horses, whips, hats, layered baddies, (decent) car chase, familiar faces.
Some elements were grinding
Generally well done, CGI...meh at times and too much perhaps, yet some sets are really but you can doubt it
No crazy fridge...one or two moments were too much but not that bad. 9 months 3 weeks ago
