This infamous flop screwball comedy is gut-bustingly great for the first half, but quickly becomes a quagmire of plot points that aren't well explained by the action, nor the characters after that. With a little thought, the premise of the story's development is funny enough, but the muddled way it moves forward is so foreign to what comes before it, that it loses all energy and all audience attention.
Still, Hoffman and Beatty are brilliant together and the songs are hilarious.
I saw it when I was young and thought it was a perfectly fine comedy. Re-watched it and it holds up ... as nothing special but not at all terrible either. Just a silly 80s comedy.
Most of the real laughs were provided by Charles Grodin.
Every bit as bad as its reputation suggests. Goes for screwball buddy comedy, but achieves only stupidity. The premise could have worked, possibly, but Hoffman and Beatty are unsympathetic characters and the movie isn't sure what it wants to be.

This movie is hilarious! Totally underrated! It is probably a precursor to something like Zoolander.wetwillies

Fabulous!! This should be on the AFI 100 Laughs, not road to Morocco. Hoffman and Beatty are gold.oligneisti
