Not to disagree with the commentators who prefer the novel, but I don't think that this film is missing anything or doesn't make sense, as some claim. What parts would you rather see included? Maybe the part where
the children enter the sewers, Bill performs an ancient ritual that takes him into another dimension where he meets a giant turtle that created our universe by vomiting it up, which helps him defeat It and afterwards the children get lost in the sewers and Beverly has to have sex with each of the boys to "restore unity to the group?"
Very slow. If you can remain invested, there's a lot of slow built tension that makes goes over really well, and well worth the long runtime for that, regardless of what you think of the ending.
The movie missed out and altered several large and small parts from the book. Some of the small parts that were missed out actually caused the film to not make much sense in some parts and they could have been included really.
Anyway, ignoring the novel and just focusing on the movie itself, it still wasn't a great movie. Because of parts that were missed out, the movie didn't make sense in some parts and obviously because of length, parts had to be shortened etc. and it made the movie kind of dull. There really wasn't that much action in it and the parts they did have were over very quickly.
Tim Curry, however, was absolutely fantastic! His portrayal of Pennywise was both terrifying and absolutely hilarious at the same time. He played that part very well. Definitely one of the film's highlights.
Tim Curry is fantastic in this one! Super creepy! I was a little confused about some of the details of the story. I have to get around to reading the very long book that this film sprouted from . :P
Tim Curry owns in this! ...but still... such a great villain in such a crappy movie... What a shame! I seldom say this, but someone should try to redo this one.
The first half is decent but the second is kind of a mess. The only consistently great thing about is a legitimately terrifying performance from the always excellent Tim Curry.
Something tells me this is why so many people suffer from coulrophobia. The movie itself was a joke, not at all scary...but Pennywise the Dancing Clown could make a grown man shit himself.

Scary as hell, even today. Tim Curry is evil personified, or should one say 'clownified'. Want a balloon sonny?tylerdurden
absolutely. Tim Curry did an amazing job. I read somewhere that the cast avoided him on the set, even they were scared of him.crazy_bitch
