Good political journalism thriller in the vein of All The President's Men, although it never comes close to that level. Renner is reliable as always but the film is really elevated by a tight script with just the right amount of family melodrama, as well as scene-stealing cameos from Liotta and Garcia. Sadly the experience finishes with a whimper (in the form of a post-script) rather than a bang, and the whole last half hour is rather lacking, but maybe that's only fitting given the injustice of the subject matter at hand. 9 years 2 months ago -

Based on a true story about an investigative journalist, working for a small-time newspaper, whose life takes a bad turn after his daring story on the CIA's role in drug trafficking.
Jeremy Renner looks very apt as the journalist and it's an authentic portrayal indeed. A gripping film which warms up pretty well. 9 years 2 months ago
