Not as painful to sit through as I had been prepared for. Those interested in the development of left-wing film, or in 20th-century Latin American history, will find enough to hold their attention, although that attention might start to flag during the second half of the four-hour running time. Most others will probably find it tough going from the start.
It's playing on Saturday afternoon (3.19.11) in Los Angeles. (At LACMA, if anyone happens to be reading this in time.)
