This is the 80's distilled and put on a bottle, and I mean that in a good way as I love the 80's. This reminds me of how cool and real old fashioned puppet effects felt. I miss thoes effects. I am not principly against CGI, but I do think it is way overused nowadays. They leave the imagination out of the formula. With this movie you have to use your imagination and you will have a great time.
This has been one of my favorites since I was a kid. I agree with the comments about puppets over CGI. Puppets are real, and they can be very detailed. There are so many little details in the set too. It is a place you can physically BE... Unlike the pixelated worlds of cgi. It's a really fun and imaginative movie.
I named my kid Jareth (no, I'm not kidding.) and I think I did it just to have a reason to quote this movie more (and Jareth you have to admit... pretty cool name he's 3 yet so he doesn't get how cool his name is but he seems happy with it.) None the less great movie
After a year I watched this movie again. I love it. It is Masterpiece. One of best 80's movie. I missed that times. i think old times things more new age than now.
The day after David Bowie's death:
It doesn't seem quite real yet. A world without David Bowie.. I somehow never thought he'd leave us. We will always love your music. Goodbye Ziggy.

"It's very cheesy and 80's but it's still fantastic."That's exactly what makes it so great! ;)
