Weird and contrived, yet watchable.
What's funny about this movie is that it's beyond sleazy and terribly dubbed (I watched it dubbed... assuming it was meant to fully be in English despite realising from the beginning that the audio was obviously from a different source), yet you can't help but recognize the great filmmaking. Fulci's direction just makes it weirdly interesting to watch, and it reminded me just how awesome these old gritty serial killer films are.
Regarding the dubbing: it seems to be one of those Italian films where some of the actors spoke Italian, whereas others spoke English, and the English-speaking actors were then dubbed into Italian. For the English version, it was the other way round. I looked at some of the Italian version and the English one just sounds better to me, even if the dubbing is shite (adds charm to the film in my opinion).
