Steven Soderbergh is back with Logan Lucky, a good ol' heist movie, but it feels more like Out of Sight (and thus, Elmore Leonard) than Ocean's Eleven, though that's in its DNA too. Filled to the brim with great actors playing dumb and perhaps not so dumb criminals, the shadow of an old family curse looms over the leads and dares their plans to turn into a fiasco. Far from the glitz of the Ocean's films, the plot has the film's "rednecks" try to rob from a NASCAR race track. Though the movie seems to drag its feet at times, I think it can be forgiven for setting the characters up as real people you might want to care about. Mostly, it's fun and funny, Soderbergh never shy about stopping the action to showcase amusing banter without forcing the car off the track, so to speak. A well-plotted heist picture with memorable characters and an unique location.
The trailers and reviews really don't do it justice (made me believe it was "meh"). A movie with solid tracks, a nice heist plan and a big heart. Because of the way it's written and the terrific performances by the cast, rooting for the protagonists comes about so natural, it's almost criminal!
Oh, and I'm so glad "Riri" didn't actually happen. That's probably a big part of the 'heart' of the story.
Supremely entertaining. A lesser director wouldn't have the flair nor would have put together a great cast that absolutely works to make these characters living and breathing and not mere one-dimensional "country folk" stereotypes. A clever, funny heist flick with a lot of heart and everyone acting their asses off. Hell, Hilary Swank is in it for about 5 minutes of screen-time and she kills it every moment she's on camera.
I really enjoyed this movie, I wasn't expecting much as I'm not a big fan of CT. It isn't the best heist movie in the world but it has great actors including one of my faves Hilary Swank and Sebastian Stan.
Glad I didn't pay money to see it or might feel slightly short changed but give it a go.
Lacking all of Ocean's class and wit, Logan Lucky does start out with a strong script where much is subtext. While the existence of subtext is interesting, the actual content of that subtext is dull, and the subtext is dropped by the third scene. Nonetheless, the script does occasionally surprise but the film largely ends up being a series of pleasant comedic and heist beats mixed with a Southern accent.
It is definitely not bad, it's just entirely forgettable.

Craig is great and their is a fun cast but movie is overlong, not really funny, exiting and just goes by...heat_
In terms of reviews and ratings I found this one to be slightly overrated. Nice snack though.Shazaaaam
Great comedic performances enlivening an otherwise "meh" heist movie. Worth a watch, especially for Adam Driver.AtomicSquid
Couldn't make a more boring film if they tried.
