   I came very close to shutting the telly off, but I'm glad that I didn't.
   
   The first 60 minutes were a little too morbid for me

   especially the scene where it turned from assisted suicide into murder; not to mention the taxidermy scene

   ; reminding me more of of the film May. However, while May was at least upfront about being disturbing, this one wasn't.
   Subject matter aside, this film was labelled as a romance drama about a man who "befriends suicidal girls". The first 60 minutes felt more like a horror film and the "befriending" was closer to

   helping women commit suicide before taking them back home, bathing them, doing some weird stuff with their corpses, then burying them

   . Another description for it said that it was about a man finding a dead girl in the woods, taking her home and "through her lifeless company, begins to feel an awakening within himself"...also not true. It made it sound like a tamer version of Swiss Army Man, but in reality

   he never brought that schoolgirl home. He brought two women home, one of whom was a girl...but he barely spent any time with her. It was the alive woman he met later that taught him how to live, not one of the corpses. The fact that he saved Naomi instead of letting her die like the rest proves that, I think

   .
   
   After those 60 minutes, it began to actually feel like a romance drama. 80 minutes in and I was hopeful for a happy ending, as this film really needed one at this point.
   Did I get one?

   Kind of. His first and only love interest, Naomi, suddenly tried to kill herself after sharing an intimate moment with him. While she miraculously survived, she went back to her estranged husband.
   
   After this, Ian dug up the bodies and left them at the park, before laying near the empty graves and smiling up at the stars. Perhaps he finally learned to live. Perhaps not.

   
   
   It's definitely not something that I'd watch again, but I don't regret watching it. I just wish that the film had been a little kinder to Ian, considering the amount of trauma he has. The ending was nice, but it was a bit of a letdown after witnessing all of that he went through.
   The whole suicide aspect is also something that I'm conflicted about, although it was interesting to see that both

   the blonde girl (Tina? I forget her name) and Naomi actually wanted to live after facing death, despite saying otherwise. Even Ian stopped himself from commiting suicide, despite saying that he was going to...and that he wanted to. It showed how complicated it is, but I'm not sure if it handled it well. I don't know. I've lost two loved ones to suicide, so I'm probably not the best one to critique that.

   
   
   Do I wish that I had watched something else instead? Kind of. As I said before, though...I don't regret watching it. 4 years 12 months ago
