This show has nothing in common with the comic (one of the best comics ever created btw), save for some similarities in names and the general gist of the back-story.
Everything else is simply totally unrecognizable and honestly, being so far removed from its origin gives it a chance to hold its own.
I wish they had hired better writers though.
Also, the show really needed to be free from the TV networks moral panic filters (FOX) and frankly suffers horribly from lack of profanity and debauchery. This IS the Devil we're talking about, after all.
If you can watch the show and remember to keep all ties to the comic severed, it's worth watching mainly due to Tom Ellis performance. He is both amusing and surprising. Although the role is not written well, he makes it work.
