The best parts for me were three interviews:
1. Little Danny was hilarious in his oddly candid comments.
2. I couldn't hear all of the audio well, but I was astounded by Scatman's brief remarks and really wanted to see a whole doc on that. Why was he so moved and grateful to be working on this film?
3. Shelley's post-film introspection was fascinating to watch. She was quite humble in her admissions (even when it was admitting she was jealous of attention), and she was, for me, surprisingly luminously beautiful in that interview. She looked like a figure from a Van Meer.
I wondered what happened to Kubrick, who was only 17 when she made this. She also did the score for Full Metal Jacket. She's a Scientologist estranged from her family.Sad.
It's weird to see that Jack Nicholson is the same person as all the characters he plays. He makes a uniquely creepy villain because he is uniquely creepy.
