   More artisticly made than most slashers and with some psychological depth as well. Still, at its heart it is a gory slasher with some nasty Tom Savini special effects so anyone looking for a decent genre offering will be satisfied here. 10 years 8 months ago

   Tom Savini's head blowing up was purely spectacular!

   And perhaps the greatest moment in the film. Maniac is slightly monotonous and has a substantial amount of excessive breathing to cover for the lack of story line. It's pretty straightforward throughout, but enjoyable none the less.
