Not sure why there are so many negative comments, for me this is a film I always look forward to and enjoy watching. Lots of style, great music, and some really memorable scenes.
Scorsese's first landmark film. Still has some shocking direction today, even though a lot of films have copied off of it since then. I'm sure it was a complete revelation at the time. A good indie film - with some dodgy dubbing - that's a bit bleak, but good on characters.
I would say that I prefer Scorsese´s recent work more than this movie, they all great, he knows how to write a great movie and this one is a prove of that.
I like the movie, although I think that other works by him are better and superior.

I found myself indulging in the dialogue throughout this film, it is indeed witty. I just love those long pointless dialogues in Scorsese's films.Young DeNiro playing a mental character in a movie
