Deeply troubling, expertly made paedophile drama reminiscent of the real life Fritzl and Kampusch stories and made in a coldly banal fashion not unlike the work of fellow Austrian Michael Haneke. The horrors of the captivity and abuse of a ten year old boy by an apparently ordinary and well liked insurance agent are suggested rather than sensationalised, allowing for occasional moments of black comedy. By no means easy viewing, but gripping, horribly plausible and darkly memorable.
