More than a gulity pleasure, this amusing and light-hearted Christmas movie has proven its worth by becoming a seasonal tradition for many a household including mine. Chevy Chase embodies the energetic and warm-hearted patriarch of the Griswold family. His deadpanned demeanor and enthusiastic dedication to making this the best family Christmas ever is a joy to behold. Not every joke is a zinger and some fall flat, but there is plenty of gags to keep things moving along with a smile and a certain special atmosphere about the movie which makes it repeatedly enjoyable and endurable, and thus has come to deserve a permanent place in the annual rotation of Christmas movies.jhhayes

Obnoxious and mean spirited. Why is this considered a Christmas classic? There’s not even a story, it’s just unfunny gag after unfunny gag.
