That scene in the toilet fucked me up real good, so raw and powerful. Zvyagintsev is a contemporary gem.
Zvyaginstev is the second coming of Tarkovsky. His endings are really terrific. He always leaves a lasting image on my mind long after the film is over, and this is no exception. He's stated he doesn't make political films, but it's hard not to see his last three as indictments against the modern Russian oligarchy.
So depressive and so intense. Feels like a Bergman film at times. One of the best movies I've seen this year.
