Amazing film, brilliantly conceived, brilliantly directed. The acting is top notch as always with Lumet. The social commentary is not too heavy and is as true today as it was 41 years ago.

One of the best original screenplays ever written. Glad to know it won the Oscar for it :D

Scathing criticism, and disturbingly prescient. It will make any reasonable person want to throw the television out the window.

A movie that borders on the ridiculous but is never stretched. The story of losing humanity and love to the idiot box is shown in this movie. The movie's truth still shines. We are slaves to the gods of the market place and if the gods aren't happy then people die.

Brilliant and thought provoking satire on the media and how televison has changed our soceity and the way we view the world. Fantastic screenplay and performances, as well as some of the best monologs you will probaly ever hear in a movie.

Without a doubt one of the best and most important films of the 70's

Sidney Lumet's excellent satire of the television generation. Scriptwriter Paddy Chayefsky was veritably prescient, because most of the film's absurdities have actually happened since.

Well enough made and plenty of good acting performances, but I simply couldn't engage with the film. The ending was entirely at odds with the entire mood of the film too, and left me somewhat bemused as to whether this was meant to be a meaningful satire, a meaningless comedy or a scathing critique of network TV. My own inability to engage with the film leads me to disagree wholeheartedly with the first line of the DVD blurb - "even more compelling and relevant today than when it was first released." It just didn't mean much to me.

It was a big slap on the face. In additionally, wonderful reflection of the human nature & television world.
