One if the best movies I've seen in a long time. I cried through most of the movie. Besides showing the dedication teachers have in general, it shows the way war and politics can alter ones direction in life. Truly wonderful.

Wonderful masterpiece! 1954 must be the greatest year ever for Japanese cinema. This movie, Seven Samurai from Kurosawa and Sansho the Bailiff from Mizoguchi!!!

The mood in this movie reminded me very much of the mood in trilogy "Ningen no joken". A very touching story. It captured my attention from the start.

Your story confuse me, Mr. Bailey, where axactly did your grandmother and Mr. Kinoshita go fox hunting and what kind of fox were they hunting for?

@Kasparius, I am sure that it was fox hunting.
@Crinderman, they went fox hunting in a village 100km from Tokyo, and I think they were hunting bat eared foxes!
