The amount of effort and thought put into this film was tremendous. Incredibly well directed. However, the haphazard editing is a little grating. It seems that Kashyap tried to make the best film he could, without any regard to the sensibilities of his target audience. And that was why this movie bombed at the box office. Nevertheless, an incredibly brave effort.
this was a brave effort to put in my country where the uncouth masses go regularly to watch movies put out by arrogant bastards brought to fame purely because they were the only good actors some time ago.
but frankly, it really doesn't gel well. the whole existential aspect, the bad editing, the dumb speech bubbles, all seem to be forcibly put there because the director thought it would be funny. the pacing is very uneven and the vision really doesn't seem to have panned out as he wanted. but decent effort nonetheless.
Going by the name or country of origin, you are going in with some prejudice for sure. Then, this film is going to kick you in the balls.
Also from the same director:
'Dev.D', 'Gulaal', 'Black Friday', 'That Girl in Yellow Boots' and 'Gangs of Wasseypur'
