I was stunned into silence for ten minutes after the film ended. Honestly, one of the best I've ever seen. The plot had me guessing all the way through, and the twist was so brutal. Absolute genius cinema. I could praise Oldboy for days!
though the twist i DID see coming for a little while before the reveal, this was an amazing movie. the hammer scene is beautifully choreographed and the internet can't seem to get over it. excellent cinematography, great directing, amazing acting, all round this was one of the most depressing, awesome movies i have watched
Just a word of advice: avoid the dubbed version like the plague. I watched it with dubs and the voice acting ruined the film's tone and I didn't like it. Years later I watched Oldboy again but with subtitles only, and it was every bit as good as intended to be.
Saw it finally and was stunned totally. The soundtrack is a collector's item and the kind of vendetta and payback shown in this film, are hard to find in any other. Great acting by the male lead and all the support characters.
Surreal stuff, particularly when the film reveals some of the key moments like the flashback and also the reason for the 15 years in prison.
And the screenplay is one of a kind and constantly keeps us hooked and on our toes.
This movie by far my favorite of all time. I've seen it at least 15 times. When I talk about it to people, I still only get glimpses of it, like if I am thinking of a dream that I mostly forgot... This movie still stays a mystery for me, and Choi Min-Sik is and will always be the biggest riddle as an actor. He is on a different level and I think he should be considered as one of the greatest actor, after seeing most of his films. Oldboy is simply the equivalent of genius work for the acting, the directing and let's not forget the music which is divine.
The long fight scene in the hallway is the best fight scene I have ever had the pleasure of watching. I don't think there are any other fight scenes that ever got my blood pumping. It's gorgeous.
I really liked this, it was oh so strange. I don't think I would recommend it to anyone I know personally out of fear that they will forever be disturbed at my taste in movies! This movie was pretty awesome, I really liked the story (even though it was quite twisted).
Now that's what I call a twist ending! Good movie! A twist that only M. Night Shammylammydingdong could only hope to make (and no, if he doesn't put any efforts in any of his movies I won't put any effort in spelling his name).

Interesting plot.Great acting.
Beautiful cinematography.
Miserable and depressing.
Awesome fight scene.
Superb music.
It was a really good film, although it lost me at a few points. The twist was excellent.

Much more thoughtful than a Hollywood movie would perform following that premise and more than just a "revenge film".JoeMorrissy
The most depressing sickening film I've ever seen.I liked it.
