this was one of the the most powerful films about the Arab-Israeli conflict but its not a political movie in the way of clashing ideologies in the Middle East. Out in the Dark is a “Romeo and Juliet” story of two gay man from opposing factions – this time Israel and Palestine – whose relationship takes a dramatic turn for the worst. A dangerous and highly forbidden love affair breaks our hearts in this very rare piece of queer cinema.
This is my first Israeli film and I quite enjoyed it.
It follows a gay couple; one Palestinian and the other a Jew, who meet one night in a club and promptly fall in love. Their romance is unfortunately underplayed as the political elements rule supreme. Overall well made and rather cathartic.
