I really had no intention of watching this because of its reputation but after seeing John Waters do a hilarious comedy routine / talk, I relented. I'm surprised by how much I liked this.

The chicken thing was definitely my least favourite part and Edie annoyed me though she became more tolerable as the movie progressed.

Overall, I enjoyed the weird, fun tone of this movie. Divine's performance was good. The characters were quirky and memorable. Mr. Jay's narration was amusingly campy and a nice touch.

I think to appreciate this movie, you can't take it at face value at all.

"It should be considered not as a film but as a fact, or perhaps as an object" - Roger Ebert
This definitely one of the worst "objects" (to use Ebert's terminalogy) I've ever seen, grotesque but otherwise absolutely pointless

Polyester and Desperate living are better but... this still stands the test of time...for it to be shown in theaters back then is crazy .... and fun . LOL

Probably the most disgusting thing I've ever seen, the acting was cheesy and overdone, the plot was all over the place, but I was oddly entertained for most of the movie. I doubt I'll ever watch it again though.

Yeah...I don't think Jackass has anything on this movie. I've seen Jackass do things to feces, I don't think I've ever seen them do what they did.

I somehow unchecked this. had to check it again, and remember how unpleasant and experience it was.

I watched the 25th anniversary edition. John Water's introductions to deleted scenes were the better than the whole film.

Oh boy! What did I just watch? Whatever this was meant to be either just pure explotation or a dark satire on the Manson family, this is a bizarre and twisted movie experience that I won't be forgetting anytime soon.

If you think this has anything to do with hipsters, you don't know what a hipster is, the history behind hipsters, or even the culture when this movie came out.

The music was good... and that's about it. I was prepared for obscenities, but the problem was mainly with everything else (plot, acting, etc.) Avoid at all costs.
PS. It really tells you a lot about the movie, when the only creature you feel sympathy for is a chicken. A poor, poor chicken indeed.

Pink Flamingos is not a movie but an exercise in the joys of being repulsed and shocked; and I say that with love! I was blessed to have seen this in a theater for the first time with a crowded house and I mean if you can't have a good time with this movie under those circumstances I don't think we can be friends. Anybody claiming this isn't a good movie needs to let go their idea of what a movie is supposed to be, that's what makes films and filmmakers like John Waters so fun! They don't care about the rules! If you can't enjoy this I really think you just be taking it and yourself too seriously.
