I thought, if anything, the film gave too much time to the gunman's views. I don't know what more of his perspective someone would expect -- it's not like the guy had a point or was of sound mind (if you do think either of those things, get mental health help. Seriously.)
That said, the film doesn't do much to counterbalance him, other than have a "not all men" subplot and assume we'll be naturally revolted by his revolting actions; which, of course, most of us are, but the people who aren't... who knows.
@LiquidSplitter Yes. It's liberal propaganda that a man who wanted to kill as many people as possible targeted strictly women in a Canadian college saying "You're women, you're going to be engineers. You're all a bunch of feminists. I hate feminists." It's, uh, pretty cut and dry from my vantage point here that reality is someone who at this point would probably be defined as an incel did this. And f*ck him for doing so.
I don't really like this one as it's just rough and doesn't really add any understanding or greater thought to the whole terrible event, but I will say the final line of dialogue "If I have a boy, I will teach him to love. And if I have a girl, I will tell her the world is hers." is such an amazing piece of writing that, even though I ultimately still don't care for the film as a whole, gives me pause and proves Villeneuve is hands and tales above everyone else.
A tendentious piece that leans on the side of liberal propaganda. Almost destitute of the gunman's perspective; his reasoning on why he does what he does beyond just an obvious misogyny that never needed a voice over to establish.
Very, very good indeed. I never heard of this drama, but Villeneuve directs the hell out of this one. Masterfully crafted, well shot and... come to think of it: I can't think of any real flaws, as I pointed out in my review (Dutch) But I had my hands raised to my face in horror for large portions of the film...

A powerhouse statement on the seemingly never-ending issue of misogyny and a reflection on the absolute need for equality.HulotD
