Another nice Brit-gangsta movie with a great cast from the modern times master of such cinema, Guy Ritchie. While it does suffer from a confusing and convoluted story with severe pacing problems, it's an entertaining ride that keeps you interested all the way.
Slower than Snatch, stupider than Lock Stock, but fans of those two will most likely enjoy this one as well.
Liked this one! It's not exactly the action or the story that intrigued me... but I really had a laugh. The funny scenes are great and there's a nice chemistry between the actors. Gerry Butler and Tom Hardy were hilarious, Idris Elba and Mark Strong were extremely cool. All in all, lots of fun!
More than Revolver, 2008's RocknRolla could lay claim to be the third film of a Guy Ritchie crime movie trilogy that started with Lock Stock and Snatch. In other words, it's a stylish but convoluted crime comedy with an all-star cast, where the set pieces are probably greater than their sum (no really, for all the love the other two films get, are you more likely to recall favorite scenes or the whole plot?). Essentially, we have thieves stealing from crooks, ruining their deals, and it all turns into a massive fiasco, but the plot is merely an excuse for introducing interesting characters and letting them interact with one another. The ending overtly promises a sequel, but it seems to be Ritchie's lot in life to try to start franchises and never get further installments green-lit - Sherlock Holmes is the exception to a trend that now includes The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and King Arthur. Unlike those films, RocknRolla doesn't make you beg for more, but it's still a fairly entertaining ride while it lasts.
Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for Snatch, but I thought this was better. Of course, all of Ritchie's gangster films are just the same kind of thing with different specifics. This one has the big benefit of starring Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Tom Wilkinson, and Thandie Newton.
Felt like a kind of shittier version of Lock Stock/Snatch. At least with Revolver he was trying something new. Boggles the mind why he thought this could make a trilogy. Johnny Quid had some great lines though.

A nice semi tricky plot, some good characters and a return to form for Guy Ritchie, who needed it.shitmovies

Basically Snatch, but not as good, funny or interesting. Still not a bad movie, but I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone.apotts
