It sets out to critique the concept of male writers constructing female characters who are essentially wish-fulfillment fantasies but fails badly because her whole purpose in the plot is subordinate to his: first she is there to reflect his self-absorption and later to enable his character growth. The ending in particular leaves a bad taste in the mouth, and seems to undermine a lot of the message of the film. 9 years 11 months ago -

I enjoyed it so much. Had a good laugh and didn't want to compare to other films, though I've watched few films with similar idea. The idea might not be original, but this one was greatly executed.
Zoe Kazan and Paul Dano did a great job. And in an unrelated thought, I watch too much Chris Messina this past few days. Fiuh. 10 years 7 months ago
