Sugar Cane Alley would be the more correct/known title.

A fine, bittersweet film. Good performances all around, but Douta Seck is exceptional as Mr. Medouze.

Roger Ebert told about this film as: "One of the best movies I've ever seen in a long time". You can read it from the film's poster.
However, it's not in the "Roger Ebert: the great movies" list. WTF ???

@onuryz Well, there could be lots of explanations for why it's not in that list; for one thing, Ebert of course saw many, many movies throughout his life, and there are lots that he loved that aren't on that list. He named Synecdoche, New York the best film of the 2000's, yet it isn't on there.

Also, he reviewed this film before he had even started the list, and after he had started the list, he specifically wrote that none of the reviews were from memory, so maybe he didn't see it again.

Another thing, there's also a difference between "great" films and the "best" films. Ebert included Triumph of the Will on the list, yet he called it dull and all sorts of things.
