As written in the poster, original name is Sangue do Meu Sangue.
Blood of My Blood it's an intense drama that pictures the problems of a low-working class family living in the outskirts of Lisbon.
The story it's not anything fancy but it has some twists and it can be quite interesting. The actors are well chosen, mostly Rita Blanco, who was amazing doing her role.
But one of the things that stands out in the movie is the way the audio was handled.
In a normal movie, the producer fades away the background noise and everything unrelated to the story to make sure that the audience pays attention to the main conversation.
But in this movie, João Canijo simply put the raw audio without any edition to balance the various sounds sources, this is mostly notorious in multiple conversations. Throughout the movie there are many parallel dialogs between multiple characters and the audience is expected to choose what they should be paying attention to. This is also noticeable in the house of the main characters which is very small and the noises coming from other rooms sometimes overlap their conversations. This brings another sensation to the movie because it is something that happens naturally. I think it is something very interesting and should be explored more by cinema in general.
The movie is pretty good and in opposite of a typical portuguese movie the scenes and dialogs aren't very slow at all.
Long story short, watch it.
