Hard on the eyes and the ears and the heart and the stomach. But maybe the best film I've ever seen about concentration camps.
Incredibly powerful cinema here. Also an astounding exercise of experimental cinema. Works for me, on so many levels.
This movie lasts way too long for my taste, perhaps is just an Oscar thing I will never seem to understand. The opening scene is impressive and hard on the stomach. But after that the movie fails to captivate. Dragging out every scene does not make a story more compelling. Rather it annoyed me more and more and I had to resist a strong urge to turn the movie off.
