Competently crafted conspiracy action-thriller, among the better ones by the go-to "average action director" Antoine Fuqua. In between Bourne and a more serious (early) Michael Bay. If only the script was less vulnerable ..
Given the title it's easy to overlook this as a generic movie but it's actually quite spectacular. Immaculate execution and pacing and great interactions between military, FBI, and political characters. Exemplary and underrated. Far, far better than Jack Reacharound.
This movie has exactly the amount of character development it needed--more would have bogged it down. It's not a character study. It's a military-political action thriller. Other user below compares this to a Michael Bay movie. No, this would have been terrible as a Bay movie--all explosions and no story.
