That's all.Torgo
It's nice to see such a project succeed alone. Go see it and spread the word.Nine99

The best bits of Sita Sings the Blues for me were the ones where three unscripted Indian narrators argued over how the Ramayana goes and whether different parts of the story make sense. I could have done with more of that. Unfortunately, the structure of the film requires that everything happen in triplicate. First the cross-talking explanation, then the agreed upon story, and finally a musical number using archival Annette Henshaw tracks, all in different animation styles and rather attractive (though the latter part isn't quite ambitious enough in terms of choreography), but the repetition eventually drags things down. I said "and finally", but the story is also intercut with autobiographical segments in the style of Nina Paley's feminist comics, at once the most primitive looking in terms of animation, and as an "origin" for the rest of the film, less than useful. Like putting jazz and blues tracks over an Indian story, it smacks of cultural appropriation. I enjoyed Paley's comics back in the day, and was disappointed to read her comments regarding her support of JK Rowling; the thoughtless politics at the heart of Sita unfortunately fall in line with those comments. The movie looks cool, but it makes me grumble.Namfoodle

the conversational discussion between the man and woman of how everything happened really made it.Rohit
Brilliant movie. You can watch it on IMDBLocal Hero -- aka MestnyiGeroi
It may be a little hard to make it all the way through in one sitting (too many similar musical numbers), but I found this cute film rather enjoyable, and it has tended to stay with me, now many months after seeing it.jlfitz
Fabulous. Loved everything about it, including all the songs.iCheckFilms
Ramayan is a great epic and nothing short of a series would do justice to the details in it. But, the narrative style of this movie made up for all the details. It's very controversial yet very entertaining. And, yes, I too felt there were one too many songs :(sameer248
the narration was brilliant. too many songs though.firewordsparkler
Amazing. I loved it all. Great for Indians, who grew up with the mythology and never quite understood it all.
