   I really love the atmosphere in this film. It reminds me a bit of the classic gothic horror films from Universal and Hammer as well as the Italian horror classic Black Sunday and the old Disney animated version of The Adventures of Ichabod Crane & Mr. Toad. Pretty much everything is on a sound stage but the sets are so beautiful that you might not believe it. The woods look like something straight from a fairy tale. A lot of the acting is very good as well, but what stands out is the style and direction. Fantastic special effects. I remember when I saw it for the first time that I knew nothing about it going in so when I saw who played the Headless Horseman, I was very pleased. 9 years 6 months ago

   I spent years and years of my life terrified of this film from viewing it at a young age. My parents had bought it on DVD (or probably VHS when I think of it) and I had to be four. I watched it under the bed because I was too afraid to leave the room and too afraid to see it with my own eyes. And now nearly fourteen years later, I've finally mustered up the courage to sit down and watch it for myself.
   
   To say it wasn't very Tim Burton would be a lie, whether you enjoy that or not. There's a certain kind of formula to his films, but I don't think that's a fault by any means. I personally enjoy him for the drop of creepy he adds to the film world and find every film with a different story line, but always with his key elements - they're his trademarks! He's a dark and eccentric person who makes dark and eccentric films.
   
   Of course there is the always talented and beautiful Johnny Depp. A wonderful, timeless actor that will forever be a legend for his ability to convey emotions and transfer from role to role, every time hitting it spot-on. I also enjoyed the presence of Christina Ricci. Great casting all around.
   
   What really stole the film away was the breathtaking cinematography. Often it's hard to captivate darker films with grey-scale lighting into phenomenal cinematography, but Sleepy Hollow had it. Truly impressed with it to say the least. The score as well was nicely well done and added tremendous effect.
   
   Not Burton's finest, but enjoyable and even slightly scary (even fourteen years later!).
