Very entertaining Spiderman movie. Holland is perfect as our hero and Keaton provides the goods as the villian. Too much Iron Man for me and no need for this movie to be 2H 15min long. Skip 30 min.But overall good fun.

It's very entertaining but there are some glaring flaws which prevent it from being truly spectacular. It struggles with pacing issues especially around the DC decathlon and it almost seems that nobody gets angry with Peter in this film, except the villain. Just when you think there will be a teachable moment that Peter can't effectively juggle his school life and being Spider-Man it's just laughed off.I also thought that Vulture was a cool villain, but the CGI seemed somewhat basic especially focusing on Toomes' body in the midst of the wing suit. Could have been cleaned up a bit.
I did like how no origin story was needed and most of the jokes seemed like classic snarky Spidey, other gags were not really necessary.

So cliché it hurtsNoamO
Started the film hating on the kid and finished it loving him and totally thinking he "deserves the suit".He really got the old Spider-Man cartoon vibe.
solid Spider-Man movie and the best one in a while.

When I heard they were making another Spider-Man movie I was like "Here we go again." How many times can they rehash the same old origin story before it becomes boring? They solved this question by making Spider-Man an ultimately small-time player in the much bigger Marvel Cinematic Universe. No "chosen one" narrative here. Peter Parker is just some teenager (and this time, he actually looks like a teenager) in a suit of power armor (provided by Tony Stark, no less) who tussles with a gang of small-time thugs. It's a very small story in scope, and that's why it works. It assumes that everyone knows the origin story and the general conceits of the Super Hero genre and it lets itself have fun. Putting Tony Stark in this film was the best decision they could have made. It completely recasts Peter Parker's character and turns what could have been the same old Hero's Journey into what essentially ammounts to high-school sports film with the climax being the big game. Clever, witty, fun and refreshing.Carota
Hannibal Buress!!! <3Dewsions
A lot of humour and ultimately an enjoyable film, loved Peter and Ned's friendship and the focus on Peter's inital days as Spider-Man.Slylingual24

I love that we didn't have to go through the whole thing of how he became Spider Man and what happened with his uncle... yawn yawn!!!Tom Holland is superb in this film, he's a really good actor and his American accent is flawless.
For me the film was a little long but other than that brilliant!

It's alright but not mind blowing.MrDoog
An enjoyable average movie.Perhaps a tad too long and most of the jokes fell flat, but overall not much wrong with it.

I liked the movie and IMO this is not any better than the previous spider-man films. It could have been, but most of the high points of the movie where spider-man had a chance to shine were shot down by ironman's involvement except for the climax and maybe DC.Here's me hoping for a day when Marvel gets off of its cane (ironman) to walk....DC had the same problem with batman but it seems wonder woman may finally change it.

In Spider-Man Homecoming, we get a pleasant remix of the Spider-Man story that, for all the changes made to characters, is true to the themes of Peter Parker's world. The film is very definitely about CONSEQUENCES and thus RESPONSIBILITY, right down to the Vulture's motivations were are a direct consequence of the way the Avengers have changed the status quo. The old Parker luck is in rare form, and the inexperienced Peter ends up causing a LOT of trouble for himself in a script that isn't really about fighting villains (thus avoiding the "boss fight" trope that often seems to have a stranglehold on the genre), but about saving people (even the villains) and fixing one's own mess, all without having to invoke the too-often-told origin story. While I do think the film could have been little tighter (some gags are unnecessary) and that I'm starting to think Robert Downey Jr. phones it in at this point (and yet, I was relieved to see Iron Man NOT take as big a place as he appeared to in the marketing), the movie did have some great twists and turns, set pieces I'd never seen before, an ethnically-diverse Queens, clever fan service, and in Michael Keaton's Vulture, the best Marvel Cinematic villain since Loki. A lot of my friends are already putting it in their MCU Top 5 and I don't think they're wrong to do so.Andreas
Really liked it!mysteryfan
