The best of the Star Wars films because it is dark and ends in favor of the villains, this is Darth Vader's movie. The Special Edition adds some ok material which isn't too intrusive this time.

I've always wondered why people hold this up as the indisputable best Star Wars movie but after watching all other episodes several times I think it becomes clear. This episode just gets all of it right. The action is top notch, the characters are brilliantly written, and even though the story bounces around a bit it flows very well. There isn't a true all-out space battle which usually makes for my favorite scenes in the series but the lightsaber duel at the end makes up for it. It's pretty much the best in the series and even features some hardcore hide-and-seek from the combatants. No other duel has that.

Thanks to gorgeus set designs and visual effects, the Star Wars universe really comes to life in this space opera, and the drama has never been more stiring. The characters are more fleshed out, the tone is darker and there is generally more going on in this excellent sequel that does not care about setting things up or closing things down but serves up a rollercoaster ride of an adventure flick from start to finish.

To be really really really honest, I thought this movie was fine, A New Hope was ok, but Return of The Jedi....Awful! Please don't hate me :) Can't wait to see The Hidden Fortress. It inspired the Star Wars Saga:)
