Considered a cult film, Suburbia had me hooked from the opening with the baby-eating dog.
It captures the discontent and inherent goodness in youth misunderstood.
Suburbia was filmed not far from where I grew up in California (I was 8/9) in a road of houses that was mainly deserted, and I remember there being rumours of 'babies in fireplaces!!' and other crazy things grown-ups would like to associate with punks. I remember driving through the road with my parents after filming had wrapped so that we could find evidence of burned-out houses and miscellany ill-repute.
I suppose we were unsuccessful.
It was of course not until many years later when I started going to Vandals, et al gigs and happened upon this film, that I put everything together.
Coincidentally, a few weeks ago, I was at a 4-day punk rock festival (in the UK, where I now live) where this film was one of those shown in the makeshift cinema for those looking for an escape from the music. I missed it! Drat!

Gnarly film. My mind is still buggin' out. It's a raw and as lethal as the Doberman's bite.jlfitz
