The movie has a big case of first film syndrome, where the formal aspects and the thematic aspirations of the movie are so well thought out and omnipresent, that the emotional stuff and the performances end up in the backseat, as dead as that poor kid. On the other hand "Compulsion" is maybe better, but much less interesting. Overall an extremely rewarding experience, but I don't think it'll be something I'll revisit.
