The story is familiar, but the visual execution is what makes the film so memorable and unique. Some may say that this is a triumph of style over substance. I'm more inclined to say the style IS the substance, and what style! The film is like an empty canvas where we can witness Tarsem's crazy, perverse, disturbing, and absolutely beautiful imagination. Even over 10 years later, the visuals hold up incredibly well. If anything, watch this film for the imagery alone. I promise, you won't forget the trippy experience. 5 years ago
I hate to use the word "random," but we are speaking of a movie whereinJLO smokes pot, Vince Vaughn not-so-subtly implies a funny uncle inspired him to become a cop, and Vincent D'Onofrio entertains an albino fetish...all of Tarsem Singh's incredibly gorgeous visuals aside. Worth owning. 5 years 3 months ago
Miscast and clumsy at times but still a unique SciFi/Fantasy take on the serial killer film, with interesting visuals. 6/10.
