I've seen Brakhage films in pristine 16 mm prints on a big screen and I've seen miserable vhs rips on 240p youtube, you don't have to take my word for it, but there is a tremendous difference. I'm not saying haters wouldn't hate, but it might make people think twice before dismissing his work entirely.criscoJovan

I get the art of Brakhage's works. It's engaging, and unique. And I get making a lot of them. Monet painted a bazillion water lilies after all. But there comes a point, and for me it was watching this one, where they all start looking the damn same. I could have been rewatching any one of the other paint & scratch films of his I've seen and not realized it. They are immediately recognizable as Brakhage, and immediately forgettable as individual pieces.Still, the sheer fact that he made 342 films, most of them just like this, means that he couldn't care less what I think of this one. Perhaps one day a Brakhage print will sell for $18M like Monet. What that buys me now as a viewer I have no idea.

Public Enemy
A higher resolution doesn't make it that much different than most of his other ones.
