The ironically implausible deaths get gorier and sillier, but this franchise had run its course by the time it got here. 5 months 2 weeks ago -

Far better than the second and also, surprisingly, marginally better than the third.
In my humble opinion of course. I'm a huge fan of the first film and the series in general, and although the fourth entry in the series is lacking plot wise I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.
For example, the second film featured a complex story in an attempt to become a tightly packed, edge-of-your-seat thriller; and, barring the amazing opening scene, it failed badly.
The third was better, but the plot still seemed thin, full of holes, and often just dull, biding time until the next kill.
The Final destination drops all pretensions and shamelessly gives us the bare bones of the series but with the best deaths since the first.
I would agree that the story is minimal and weak at best but I really feel like this works to it's advantage. A lot better than Ellis' first entry in the series. 2 years 11 months ago
