How can something be boring if you find it 'actually very good'?
I can see how one man's gold can be another man's garbage, but if you find something good enough to enjoy it, I fail to consider it even slightly boring.

love the naturalism of the performances and the handheld zoomy photography style. the shot composition was delightful and so much up close and personal.
feels like an atmospheric and intimate slice of life, with momentum in its plot and a sense of mystery in its direction.

I appear to be in the minority here, but I felt this was not only interminably (and unnecessarily) long but that it also came across as embarrassingly amateurish at times. I've seen 4 of Cassavetes' films and, while I appreciate why he's considered important and influential, his technique is clearly not my cup of tea. Still, this is the first one I truly disliked. The god-awful, self-indulgent strip show segments were painful to endure (no wonder the dude's business is struggling!), and his approach to "realism" is ill-suited for the crime/thriller genre, rendering the action confusing and the dialog (ironically) unnatural and muffled. I didn't buy any of it and couldn't wait for it to end. Clearly I'm missing something with this one...

Be sure to watch the uncut blu-ray Criterion 2 hour and15 minute version and not the shortened 1 hour and 44 minute edited one- the longer version makes the movie far superior

It's boring, so it must be art?
I don't like it.
There are plenty of boring movies that are actually very good, but I don't think this is one of them.
