It's like the filmmakers set out with the sole goal of creating five of the most despicable, loathsome main characters ever put to screen. In this regard they succeeded spectacularly, but then they inexplicably made a movie whose emotional weight depends entirely on the viewer feeling at least slightly sympathetic towards the plight of these characters. In the absence of this, the increasingly convoluted mystery just feels empty and pointless, as the only thing you care about is seeing the protagonists punished as much as possible within the runtime of 90 minutes (which, by the way, still somehow manages to feel overlong). The three years this was stuck without getting a release was nowhere near enough.
Far from a perfect movie but pretty entertaining. And while the end was unpredictable, the third act feels like it has a few too many twists and turns. The other reviews on this page say that the main characters were despicable and that couses you not to feel anything for them, I disagree. While the characteds do some bad things, those things never made me hate them, I felt like they were pretty good characters played by great actors.
I could not put my finger on what was so loathesome about the style of this film but my boyfriend suggested that 'it's way too Entourage.'
to see which of your friends have seen this movie!
