I don't know whose decision it was to include him, but if it weren't for that kid in black face, I might have been able to forgive this insipid movie solely due to its historical significance...But alas...

The kid in "blackface" was Antony Scott, son of Harry Clifford Scot of Scott and Whaley.
Scott and Whaley were a black minstrel comedy team and the first black performers to take the leading roles in a British film. Scott, tended to perform in blackface.
His mother Mary Madeleine Perry, seems to be of Portuguese descent.
So even if he might have been darkened up, those complaining of the little white boy in blackface need to check things out 1 year 4 months ago
