Wow, super lame, even by modern standards.
Doesn't make a lick of sense either.

What?! I had a great time! If nothing else, much, much better than the first Annabelle. Feels kind of like a modern day Hammer horror movie, imo.

I think the problem with this for me was that there were too many 'scary' moments. It didn't really take the time to build up any tension so when something creepy happens the stakes weren't really that high. It's like they went with the extreme of throwing way too much creepy stuff at you and as a result it just deflates all tension from the film.

Too many micro scare moments back-to-back, especially in the later half on the movie. It has a neat visual style to it, but it's jampacked to the brim with "new" ways of scaring you and overdesigns its environments and creature styles at the same time. The last half hour was also quite odd, and a constant barrage of wacky one-liners, completely out of nowhere. Jokey sidekick was just dumb too.

7/10 in their own genre, but 6 as a movie in general.
Stylish Romanian environments, stylish CGI, eerie mood, an iconic new horror character (with a fantastic casting on Bonnie playing the nun - she looks creepy in reality) & a very good role interpretation of Vera Farmiga's daughter Taissa (why she is here in 1952, so alike her mother, must be on purpose by the filmmakers - something with the connection to the other films).
I saw The Conjuring 2 before, which chronologically matched how the films came about, even though it takes place in 1977, mainly in England.

Absolutely nothing original in the slightest. The atmosphere was pretty cool I guess, but we've seen everything else before. For a franchise that's known for being unique & unexpected, this really misses the mark.

I thought it was ok. In my opinion the least scary of the series, but still had some cool moments and a few creative scenes, too. I especially liked spoiler. But one (small) thing bugged me throughout and that's how they make a point that Frenchie is French Canadian, they say it repeatedly like some sort of running gag - so far so good - but whenever he does speak French he doesn't have a French Canadian accent at all. Apparently the actor's Belgian, which sounds a lot closer to France French than Canadian French, and that kind of ruins the joke /: Oh well.
I'd recommend watching the movie if there's nothing else to watch. It wasn't particularly boring, just sadly much more uninspired than the previous entries of the Conjuring series and spin-offs.

Well-shot and decently acted, but pretty mediocre otherwise. By no means awful, and not without a creepy scene here and there, but it doesn't really offer anything new or particularly effective. Just a bunch of cheap, and mostly ineffective, jump scares.

A panacea for anyone still reeling from the fear the Nun struck in them from The Conjuring 2.
No longer terrified. A perfect example of how modern-day horror lacks suspense. Sometimes NOT seeing what you fear, fuels you to fill in the gaps with your own imagination - which may be the scariest part of it all. Disappointed, should have kept the same theme from the first.
