A master class movie almost in all aspects.Excellent photography, casting and directing. Acting is from another planet.
The theme is such a boring one, how could one possibly turn this theme into a masterpiece? By putting human elements on the front!
All throughout the movie, there is a cut wound never heals though never spills blood. The deep hidden pain goes on and on.

Camille Deadpan

This is the movie where Hugh Grant gives most of his facial expressions. That says it a lot.
Hopkins is very convincing as an uptight butler, there were a lot of times I wanted to shake him out of it, especially when it came to the matters of the heart. As far as Ms Thompson goes - I'd give her an Oscar for most of the things she does, she is just so great.

Very touching drama. Lovely ending as well with great performance on all fronts. Anthony Hopkins gives an unforgettable performance as usual and I'm sure everyone will come off feeling sad after watching the movie.

Dear lord, sweet baby Jesus, nothing really happens in this film. Nothing! Watching paint dry has more going for it. Not a bad film per se just a boring one and slow as slow can be. Unbeliveable amount of politeness, passive agressiveness and top class acting. I want my remains of the day back.
